Why a quality script is important for your video project

3/11/2016

So you want a quality video to promote your business? Maybe you want it for your website, or to run as a commercial or maybe to promote your business at trade shows or to show investors?

Bottom line for you the seller is that whatever it is you are selling or promoting must be presented in a way which draws your target demographic audience in and compels them to buy your goods as soon as possible.  Right? And not just once or twice. You want the customer's repeat business for many years.

So what is the very first thing you want in order to make your video accomplish your objectives?  Well, quite simply, you want a quality script.  And for that, you need a professional script writer.

Why you ask?

Some businesses think they can write their own script.  And some do it very well. Often times business owners (particularly small or new business owners) are super busy wearing many hats.   And, if they don't particularly enjoy writing to begin with, procrastination can set in.

Secondly, your business may be great at making the next multi-million dollar product for consumers across the globe, but you will want to seriously ask yourself if you truly have a good sense of what creates a consumer's emotional engagement, enlightenment, and yes...even entertainment.  Because these are the attributes a good script writer brings to your video script.

Additionally, a good script writer is a  person who truly cares about creating quality and thus creating greater commerce for you.

The script writer listens to you in a consultation about your objectives.  Then  researches the broader picture of your business and its most specific goals.  Finally the writer narrows the scope and strategy of approach.

The script writer helps you by ultimately crafting and delivering the quality message you wish to convey to your audience...often with incentives for them to make their move now with you and your brand!

You work hard to build a good business.  A quality script is truly a part of the best foundation for a strong compelling business video which makes your business stand out from the competition.

Assisting on the May/Pac fight at the MGM in Vegas

I had the privilege of working under the "Godfather of Boxing Photography" and veteran photographer Chris Farina for the May/Pac fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 2.  We were based in the Media Center all week, surrounded by hundreds of writers, photographers and film crews from around the world.

I was front row at the weigh-in on Friday, which was the largest I've ever attended with 5000 fans filling the Grand Garden Arena.  We were entertained by 80's rapper Doug E Fresh.  We shot with Canon 1DX''s, even Brad, the other assistant.  He stood in the back with the 400mm lens while Chris and I covered front row action twenty feet from the stage.

The Godfather and I were treated like royalty by radio show hosts from 94.1 FM, Denver's top sports radio station, who were also covering the events of the week.

I marveled at how the crew worked all today to transform the arena for the fight and watched how the Godfather hung two remote control cameras high up near the arena lights while be lifted by a cherry picker.

The day of the fight was crazy.  My first job was to shoot the celebrities coming in the arena.  Drew Barrymore was sweet, Tom Brady was friendly, Mark Wahlberg accidentally ran in to me, which was fine with me.  Adrian Brody actually conversed about a mutual acting teacher we had in the past.  In fact, all the celebs I photographed cooperated but Denzel Washington,  who put his hand up and said "I'm not working!"

During the fight, my job was to run memory cards back and forth in between rounds from Chris to the Media Center, download the card and then run back to get more.  This went on all night while Paris Hilton sat behind me, taking selfies of herself.  Guess who else was sitting behind me? Denzel Washington.  I remained professional and managed to resist the urge to take any unflattering photos of him.

All in all, it was a hectic week but very fun.  Unlike any other that I've attended.

Meet and Greet with Beverly Hills Mayor Julian Gold

4/18/2015

Today it was my honor to photograph the new mayor of Beverly Hills,  Julian Gold, at a "Meet the Mayor" Event at The Nosh of Beverly Hills Restaurant. I was expecting the lighting to be dark but when I arrived there was daylight coming in from the many windows in room.  So, I found that I had no need for the flash and had to adjust the camera.  The challenge was that the speaker podium was very  backlit so I was shooting in to the direct sunlight.  The room was small and very crowded with fans all around who came out to shake hands and have their picture taken with Mayor Gold after he spoke and answered questions from locals.  I worked with what I had, considering the conditions were not very condusive for a speaking engagement and in the end, taking some great photos.
